Reusable Plastic Packaging Examples

Volvo Penta

volvo penta engine packaging solutionThe customer required a package that would protect marine engines during storage and shipment. The design team at Robinson Industries designed and built an engine pack capable of handling 1,000 pound engines stacked 3 high. Thermoformed plastic, steel, and plastic corrugated comprised the returnable, collapsible pack.

The success of this packaging solution has allowed us to re-use this concept multiple times over the past 15 years.

Rakers

Raker Flower Packaging ExampleThis customer grows and ships millions of plants each year. They needed a shipping system that would protect their plants from their starter nursery to finishing nurseries across the United States and Canada. We were able to design and build a system for them that virtually eliminated both steel racks and corrugated boxes.

The trays also needed to work in a robotics process to verify a pre-determined seedling germination standard.

Urethane Inserts

Sharp Edges Packaging ExampleExtremely sharp edges on these cylinder heads were causing contamination produced by shavings from the polyethelene tray. Because of the 10 micron dust spec per part a urethane insert was produced that eliminated the contamination yet still held the part securely in place.
