Custom Injection Mold
Quality manufacturers of shipping containers appreciate the ins and outs of molding plastic design. The intricacies of injection molding, thermoforming or vacuum forming need to be explained in understandable terms to potential clients. The essential factors for successful designs using molded plastic include load capacity, dimensions and materials used.

Become an Expert on Molding Plastic Design
The injection molding process distributes plastic polymers evenly throughout the mold which results in uniform strength in the pallet or tray. Ideally, the payload weight will be spread evenly across the pallet. Load capacity in a static and dynamic environment needs to be considered in the design process. Shippers and warehouses need to decide upfront, how many pallets will be stacked in the warehouse and on the truck to determine maximum load.
The height, width and length of a plastic pallet are dictated by many factors and need to be considered in injection molding design. Production personnel need to know information such as, what are the dimensions of the truck being used, what are the dimensions on the factory floor where the pallet will be loaded or what conveyor system will be used, what are the rack, floorjack or tilt table dimensions?  Will this pallet be robotically handled?  What are the fork lift requirements such as two way or four way entry, and will the pallet be picked up on the long fork side or short side?

Businesses should learn about the difference between polymers before ordering custom pallets. Designers use polyethylene and polypropylene commonly in injection molding and structural foam.  These polymers are cost efficient, durable and easy to form.  Other polymers are also available depending on special requirements of the customer.

Robinson Industries Inc. possesses six decades of knowledge about plastic design and its applicability to shipping pallets. This knowledge can be accessed by exporters, importers, manufacturers and retailers by emailing sales@robinsonind.com.
